Fiberglass or steel
When GFRP is the right call
Fiberglass rebar is not a straight substitute for steel, and anyone who tells you it is has something to sell. It earns its place in specific conditions.
- Corrosive environments. Road salt, marine exposure, water treatment.
- Weight. Materially lighter to handle, which shows up in labour on a big mat.
- No thermal bridge. It does not conduct the way steel does, which matters in an insulated assembly.
- Where it does not fit: anywhere the engineer has specified steel for ductility. We will say so.

How fast can you turn a bend list around?
Call us with the schedule and we will tell you honestly. Short notice fabrication is a large part of why contractors use us, so we would rather quote a real date than an optimistic one.
Do you supply fiberglass rebar as well as steel?
Yes. GFRP is worth specifying for corrosion, weight or thermal reasons. Where an engineer has called for steel, we will tell you to use steel.
Can rebar ship with a foam order?
Yes, and it should. One truck, one date, one supplier to chase if something is missing.
