Residential and light commercial
Eco 40
The grade that changes how a crew works. At 40 psi you can run a power buggy or a mini skid steer straight across the board without wrecking it, so you keep your pour reach and lose the pump truck. Ordinary 25 psi board does not survive that pass.

Commercial and heavy load
Eco 60
Built for the loads that crush ordinary board. Parking structures and fire halls carry heavy trucks over the slab, and 60 psi is the grade specified for it. Flexural strength jumps to 131 psi over the 40 grade.

How it is different
Built differently from the board you have been buying
Same material category as everyone else, made to a different standard. The practical differences show up on site rather than on the datasheet.
- Crews drive on it. A power buggy crosses the 40 grade without damage, which can remove the pump truck from the job.
- The half inch flexes. Enough to run a curve, which Ryan has not managed with another manufacturer's board.
- It holds a fastener. Higher density means less shifting during install, which matters when you are screwing through foam.
- It is a vapor barrier, so it does double duty under a slab.
Applications
Where Eco Foam is used
Ryan's rule of thumb: if you are pouring concrete on the ground and it is not a footing, there is foam going underneath it.
Under Slabs
Inside and out, residential through industrial. The psi grade follows the load the slab has to carry.
Foundations
Against the wall after waterproofing, on new build or on any foundation dug up to repair.
Frost Protection
Buried out from the wall on slab on grade. Wisconsin requires 3 inch on the exterior.
Over Utilities
Lower risk of breakage, and laid above sewer lines so the run does not freeze.
Under Siding
Half inch on a re-side or a cold house, with the vapor control moved outboard.
Continuous Insulation
Outboard of the studs, covering every thermal bridge the framing creates.
Foam board questions
Which grade do I need?
For residential and light commercial work, Eco 40. For parking structures, fire halls and anything carrying heavy truck traffic, Eco 60. For industrial and structural loads, Eco 100. Tell us the application and we will confirm the grade rather than sell you up.
What is the R-value?
R-5 per inch, the value the board is certified and printed to. That is comparable to other XPS on the market. The difference here is compressive strength and recycled content, not thermal performance.
What thicknesses and edges can I get?
Half inch through 3 inch, in butt edge or shiplap. The 3 inch is new this year, which matters for utility work and for Wisconsin frost protection requirements.
Butt edge or shiplap, and does it matter?
Both are available in every grade at no difference in price. Shiplap laps at the joint instead of butting, which closes the thermal gap between sheets and makes the finished assembly more efficient. On a wall it is worth asking for. On a slab under concrete it matters less, so we will tell you when it is not worth the specification.
Do you hold stock, or is everything to order?
We carry a couple of truckloads at the Duluth yard. Our manufacturer is three hours away in Thunder Bay, so when a job needs more than we have on hand we can send a truck and trailer up for it rather than putting you in a queue. Tell us the quantity and the date and we will tell you honestly which of those two it is.
Is a 25 to 30 psi grade coming?
Yes. The manufacturer expects it in spring, which will give us a direct swap for the 25 psi board sold at most supply houses. No test data is published for it yet, so we will not quote figures we do not have.
Is it really 85 percent recycled?
Yes, and it is worth being precise about what that means: 85 percent of the finished board is post-consumer material collected in the United States, not 85 percent of the manufacturing waste being reused. The feedstock is foam packaging, cups, appliance padding and offcuts from rigid insulation.

Handling and storage
Eco Foam insulation is an environmentally friendly, non-reactive product.
- Store in accordance with local regulations.
- Keep away from all ignition sources and open flame.
- Store in the original container, protected from direct sunlight.
- Keep in a dry, cool and well ventilated area.
- Store away from incompatible materials, food and drink.
